Semestralmente a Maple Bear Global Schools, organiza a vinda de um especialista Canadense a nossa escola pra o “In School Training”. É o momento de ajustar as nossas praticas com o que ha de mais atual na educação Canadense.
Every semester Maple Bear Global Schools arrange for a Canadian education expert to come to our school for “In School Training.” It’s a time for adjusting our practices with what’s new in Canadian education.
This semester we had the honor of having Maria Kerkinos, as one could tell from her name, our Canadian, this time, is Greek, who grew up and became a teacher in Winnipeg, Canada.
After many years as a classroom teacher, Maria became a “resource teacher,” a member of the school team that supports children with special needs. A “resource teacher” plans support classes, help teachers to refine teaching and tasks and be with the children in the classroom, and guarantees that every child develops their full potential.
Here at Maple Bear Jaguaré, Maria, also acted as a resource teacher, helping us to understand better each one of our students, supporting our teachers reflections on how to help children to move forward. For two weeks she has been a member of our team, taking care of the students and sharing all her experience and knowledge.
Maria, has also planned two workshops on self-regulation, a methodology to teach children how to recognize their own emotional states and learn strategies to go back to a calm and alert state, ideal for learning. Identifying their level of energy and aquiring tools that help them control it, maximizes learning in cognitive, social and emotional areas; once the development of these aspects are connected.
We’ve learned this and much more from, poor Maria, that almost melted in Jaguare’s hot summer. The whole team is profoundly grateful, and we miss her already! See you next time!
